Funeral Urns

So you found the perfect funeral urn to place your loved one’s ashes in. Have you considered personalizing the urn with their name and dates? Does the company you are purchasing the funeral urn from offer personalization options? There are quite a few options available so let’s wade through them and address which ones will work best for the funeral urn you have.

Direct Urn Engraving

As the description implies, your loved one’s name and dates can be directly engraved onto the urn’s surface by a variety of methods. Metal funeral urns such as bronze, pewter, brass, stainless steel and copper with a flat surface (and some vase shaped urns) can be engraved using a specialized machine for engraving metal.

If you purchased one of these types of metal funeral urns without engraving or the company you purchased it from does not offer this option, then you may try a trophy shop or sign store. Some engravers even have the ability to engrave artwork in addition to lettering.

Funeral urns made from marble, onyx, granite or other natural stones can be engraved by means of sandblasting the lettering and or design onto the surface. Not many companies who supply these types of funeral urns offer this option, so you can try asking a monument company which engraves headstones or glass engraving business.

Engraved Nameplates that Attached to Funeral Urns

Engraved NameplateAvailable in a wide variety of sizes, shapes and finishes engraved nameplates are available in brass, aluminum and black painted brass. This popular option can usually accommodate 2-4 lines of engraving and come with an adhesive strip that makes mounting them a breeze. Engraved nameplates will work with any funeral urn that has a flat surface large enough for a given nameplate size.

Engraved Urn Medallion for Vase Shaped Urns

Urn MedallionSimilar to an engraved nameplate, an engraved urn medallion features a stylish curved nameplate with a chain. The chain allows the urn medallion to hang around the neck of a vase shaped funeral urn much like a necklace would on a person. The curved nameplate permits it to blend with the curvature of the funeral urn.

Personalized Easels for Uniquely Shaped Funeral Urns

Personalized Easel Personalized easels are comparable to a desk nameplate only smaller. They are available in a variety of materials such as brass, marble and wood. The brass easels can usually be directly engraved whereas the marble easels and wood easels have the engraving on an attached brass nameplate. Personalized easels are the best option with odd shaped urns which cannot accommodate direct engraving, a nameplate or urn medallion.
